    Responsibilities

    The Assistant Director oversees daily operations of the Electrical and Carpentry Shops, managing construction, remodeling, and repair projects campus-wide. Responsibilities include coordinating workforce activities, liaising with contractors, monitoring budgets, and ensuring compliance with University policies and procedural standards.
    • Performs administrative oversight and management of the day-to-day operations of the Electrical Shop and the Carpentry Shop.
    • Administers supervision and oversight of a work force of approximately 25 bargaining unit staff and may include student assistants.
    • Coordinates and directs the work of others from various shops on construction/repair projects.
    • Assures project timeline schedules and completion dates.
    • Meets routinely with Facilities Planning, Design & Construction, contractors and others to ensure projects meet schedule, budget and campus standards.

    Qualifications:
    • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
    • Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership
    • Proven ability to manage and coordinate skilled trades personnel effectively.
    • Expertise in construction project management and adherence to timelines.
    • Strong budgeting skills and ability to manage project finances.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service capabilities.
    • Competence in interpreting building plans and specifications accurately.
    • Ability to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety standards.
    • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
    • Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.
    • Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals.


    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
    • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
    • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $110,000 - $122,100 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
