Position Information The Human Services Department seeks an experienced professional to become their next Supervising Deputy Public Administrator/Guardian/Conservator! Starting salary up to $ 58.43 /hour ( $ 121,950 / year) plus a competitive total compensation package! The Public Administrator/Guardian/Conservator (PA/PG/PC) program with the County of Sonoma investigates, and may administer, the estates of deceased individuals who either had no wills or were without appropriate people willing or able to act as administrators. The PA/PG/PC program also conducts official County investigations into conservatorship matters and acts as the legally appointed conservator for persons found by the courts to be unable to properly care for themselves or their finances.
The Supervising Deputy PA/PG/PC performs highly responsible and specialized activities in the PA/PG/PC program, including overseeing Officer of the Day assignments, scheduling coverage, ensuring daily operations run smoothly, and evaluating program service delivery effectiveness to identify efficiency opportunities and develop policy and procedural recommendations. Additional responsibilities include:
- Supervising staff investigations, setting deadlines, and answering questions
- Assisting Deputy PA/PG/PC staff in all aspects of their caseload, including developing case management plans, and providing daily feedback, support, and direction
- Scheduling, planning, and leading various team meetings
- Conducting one-on-one staff meetings, documenting performance, coaching team members, and providing achievable goals
- Reviewing the work of Deputy PA/PG/PCs for accuracy and conformance to program policies
- Investigating, coordinating, and managing services in difficult or complex cases
- Assisting with property searches, which requires the use of specialized safety equipment such as Tyvek suits and hood respirators
- Completing field work, attending court hearings, and searching for properties to safeguard assets
The ideal candidate will possess many of the following:
- Professional experience dealing with decedent estates, probate guardianships, and/or LPS conservatorships
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to oversee a large caseload
- Experience supervising and leading team members and providing critical feedback
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
- An aptitude for organizing and triaging under strict deadlines
- The ability to train and evaluate staff and respond to their needs in real time
- An understanding of the public assistance programs available to clients
- The ability to respond to and communicate with a diverse population of clients, family members, and callers under severe stress and/or in difficult situations
- The ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain client confidentiality
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Panoramic Database Software, and other case management tracking tools
