This position assists the County Treasurer in performing statutory duties including administering the functions of the County Treasurer's office. This includes processing tax payments, reconciling tax monies, assisting with required reporting; receiving, receipting, depositing, reconciling funds; and providing courteous and efficient customer services to County residents.
Provides customer service to internal and external customers; greets, receives and screens visitors and customers; addresses and resolves customer questions as able and refers complex inquiries, requests, or complaints to appropriate staff. Sorts, copies, and distributes a variety of correspondence, deliveries, and mail; opens, logs, and routes office mail; retrieves, delivers, and sends faxes. Composes routine correspondence; proofreads and edits documents; enters, scans, updates, and maintains information in spreadsheets, databases, and reports. Maintains electronic and paper filing and record systems to provide easy access to records and information; provides retention of records as required. Receives, receipts, reconciles and deposits County monies daily, and answer inquiries from various departments. Monitors bank accounts for ACH and credit card payments, NSF checks, positive pay rejected items and account balances. Run reports, prepare deposit reports, scan and electronically deposit checks, and count cash. Balance and deposit all monies received daily. Assists with bank reconciliation as requested. Prepares and maintains tax deed lists and files in accordance with statutes; orders title searches, prepares In-Rem worksheets and mailings, and receipts payments of properties.?? Generates daily and monthly reports, reviews and reconciles accounts. Verifies various tax roll reports for municipalities and imports payments to the tax system.Monitors bankruptcies; receive and record all notices, research affected properties, update tax records, receive and receipt monies in accordance with statutes, and file claims with bankruptcy court. Performs tax searches; provides tax quotes; explains delinquent tax penalties and interest charges. Receives, receipts, researches and balances real and personal property tax payments and penalties received from taxpayers in compliance with state statutes. Distributes payroll advice forms. Prepares vouchers as appropriate. Verify, prepare, and mail account payable checks. Processes pet license, import municipal pet license files, and create pet settlement reports. Trains new employees as assigned. Process and receipt monthly ACH nutrition payments and monitor account totals.Performs the duties of the Treasurer during an absence.Other duties as assigned.
- Associates Degree in accounting or related field and three (3) years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping, banking, or related experience; ora high school diploma/equivalent with five (5) years related work experience.
- Previous customer services experience required.
- Appointment is conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

- Ability to read legal descriptions and locate parcel in a plat books or the GIS mapping program.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and ability to handle money.
- Knowledge of standard accounting principles and practices.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret federal, state, and county laws, rules, and ordinances pertaining to the responsibilities of office of the County Treasurer.
- Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures of the County.
- Knowledge of current office practices and procedures and knowledge of the operation of standard office equipment and software.
- Ability to establish and maintain accurate records of assigned activities and operations.
- Ability to interpret and implement local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; Federal,State, and local regulations.
- Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.
- Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.

- Knowledge of computer software including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications consistent for this position.
