    Overview

    The O. N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant is maintained by a team of Utility Technicians, including Utility Technician II. Technicians perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance actions as well as complete internal plant projects to ensure the facility continues to operate and provide an uninterrupted water supply to the distribution system and meets state and federal regulations. This includes operations and maintenance of satellite locations (pump stations and elevated storage tanks).

    Responsibilities

    • Identify maintenance requirements and complete preventative, corrective, and routine maintenance work orders on plant and satellite facility assets in the City's Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo) including logging material, time, and work performed

    • Operate and maintain equipment including but not limited to forklift, back hoe, overhead crane, mobile crane, generators, water pumps, chemical feed pumps, actuators, and valves

    • Sampling and verification of water monitoring equipment using specialty handheld laboratory instruments such as Hach SL 1000, DR900, pH probes, and others

    • Assist with compiling project material lists and obtaining supplies for internal plant projects

    • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

    Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

    • Non - Exempt - Full-Time

    • Non rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed

    • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High School Diploma/ GED

    • One (1) year of experience

    Licenses and Certifications

    Required

    • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

    Required within six (6) months of hire

    • TCEQ Class D Water License

    Employment Testing

    Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:

    • Criminal Background Check: Yes

    • Motor Vehicle Record Check: Yes

    • Drug Screening: Yes

    • Physical Exam: Yes

    Basis of Rating

    A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
