    Positive Supports Consultant Lead

    Typical working hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Position may have evening and weekend training sessions.

    This position may be domiciled statewide.

    Missouri Tiered Supports : organizational behavior management program that encourages agencies to develop and maintain universal support systems for their staff and the people they support. Team members provide professional development and support on a variety of subjects such as building an agency team, system development, databased decision-making, coaching and training, and Person-Centered Planning.

    Tools of Choice (ToC): a curriculum developed by behavior analysts, which teaches proactive relationship building strategies to decrease the likelihood of undesirable behavior. Facilitators must feel comfortable with public speaking to a variety of audiences, as well as engaging participants in role playing scenarios, and providing feedback.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Knowledge of a variety of disabilities, and positive behavior support principles and practices
    • Knowledge of behavioral sciences and allied disciplines involved in the evaluation and development of systems of care for provider agencies
    • Knowledge of facilitation models, such as but not limited to: Behavior Skills Training, "I do, We do, You do," Effective Feedback practices (positive, constructive)
    • Ability to flex to each team member's needs, preferences, and communication styles
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Being able to provide feedback and navigate internal and external relationships through communication, behaviors, and professionalism
    • Organizational, and time management expertise
    • Computer skills ( especially with word, excel, PowerPoint, internet, and other computer programs)
    • Ability to collect and analyze information and evaluate the data collected
    • Ability to exercise constructive discipline in a structured behavioral environment


    Special Notes:

    • Special training and/or formal course work in positive behavior supports must be completed prior to, or within 12 months of, accepting the position.
    • Applicants must be eligible for designation as a QDDP under Federal standards for an Intermediate Care Facility-Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID).


    Responsibilities include:

    • Supporting Positive Support Consultants to identify and implement universal systems of support, improving the quality of life agency-wide.
    • Observing team members for accurate skill implementation, providing effective feedback both corrective and positive
    • Observing agency environments, reviewing policies and procedures, documentation, and other relevant materials to inform annual assessments, and support agency teams in determining goals and action steps.
    • Maintaining detailed records, tracking, and preparing reports on outcomes of contracted provider data: coaching, action plan, organizational values and recognition, etc.
    • Communicating effectively with supported individuals and families, co-workers, division staff, and service providers, in order to foster a successful working relationship with all entities.
    • Attend yearly conference hosted by the Missouri Tiered Supports team, "Tiered Supports Networking Summit."


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Seven years or more years of service as a QDDP, Tiered Agency team member, coach, or ToC facilitator in lieu of degree requirements considered; OR a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in behavior analysis, social work, psychology, recreational therapy, or another human service-related field preferred.

    Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
