    Job Summary

    Performs responsible technical, administrative, and supervisory work involving Water Reclamation Facility operations. Responsible for 24-hour/day operation and ensuring that the treatment plant produces the highest quality products in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Considerable initiative and independent judgment are required to ensure continuous effective, efficient, and safe wastewater treatment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Treatment Plant Manager and reviewed through conferences, reports submitted, and results obtained. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and at least two (2) years of experience operating a wastewater treatment plant similar in process and size to the City of Orlando's facilities, some of which must have been in a supervisory/managerial capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Current State of Florida Wastewater Operator "A" Certificate for wastewater treatment required. Must possess a cell phone or home phone, or be able to be contacted in case of an emergency work situation. Some positions may be required to pass an annual respirator physical; no facial hair allowed between the face and sealing surface of the respirator face plate.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
