Performs supervisory and advanced technical work overseeing the design, layout, and fabrication of traffic control and special signage manufactured for installation throughout the City of Orlando. The position is responsible for ensuring all sign designs meet accuracy requirements and comply with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and applicable Roadway Design Standards. Duties include coordinating and supervising sign design staff, tracking fabrication needs, maintaining material inventories, and scheduling work assignments to meet project deadlines. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Traffic Operations Engineer and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and evaluation of results achieved.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree or technical certification in graphic design and three (3) years of experience in sign design/fabrication or traffic control operations
required, including one (1) year of experience in traffic control sign design and fabrication
required and one (1) year of lead or supervisory responsibilities
required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License
required. Florida Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and Signs & Markings Level I certifications are
required within six (6) months of hire.
Must be available for emergency callouts related to sign fabrication.
May be
required to work overtime or alternative schedules as needed for operational needs.

- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
