Performance, Education & Resource Centers (PERC) is recruiting for a Preschool Services Department (PSD) Staff Training Instructor Trainee* to plan, coordinate, assess, and deliver training to PSD staff on mandated regulations consistent with Head Start/State Preschool Programs and Community Care Licensing guidelines. Staff Training Instructor Trainees develop curricula and course materials; establish objectives and determine course content, sequence, and delivery systems; deliver instruction and present information to audiences of all sizes and compositions; and develop evaluation instruments to measure effectiveness of training programs. Instructors confer with subject matter experts and program staff to determine training needs and ensure technical accuracy of training materials.

A hybrid telework schedule may be offered upon satisfactory work performance. The department may also offer a 9/80 schedule, where incumbents enjoy a nine-day biweekly schedule.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment,applicants must successfully pass a background check, including fingerprinting, verification of employment history, and physical exam/drug test.
Travel: Travel throughout the county may be required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. Mileage reimbursement may be available.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
Job offers are contingent upon passing a background investigation which includes a fingerprint check and search of the Child Abuse Index before appointment. If an individual has been convicted of a crime other than a minor traffic violation, the individual cannot work or be present in any community care facility unless they request and subsequently obtain a criminal record exemption from the Community Care Licensing Division, Care Provider Management Bureau (CPMB). With the exception of minor traffic violations, all convictions, including misdemeanors, felonies, and convictions occurring a long time ago, require an exemption. CPMB also examines arrest records to determine if there is a possible danger to clients. Crimes against children and convictions of a violent nature, such as sex offenses, murder, manslaughter, arson, and robbery are crimes for which an exemption cannot be issued (Health & Safety Code section 1596.871).
Minimum Requirements
PSD Staff Training Instructor Trainee* - Candidates must meet all of the following requirements:
Education
Thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units of completed college coursework in English, Education, Business/Public Administration, Communication, Organizational Development, Computer Science, Social/Behavioral Science, or a closely related field. A copy of legible transcripts MUST be attached to the application.
-AND-
Experience:
Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience determining eligibility, developing curriculum, providing educational services, or assisting with program development in a public sector Child Care, Foster Care, Head Start, Early Childhood Education, State Preschool, or Human/Social Services setting.
-AND-
Training Experience:
One (1) year of experience conducting formal or informal training, mentoring, or teaching on a regular basis.
*Important Notes*
Education:
1) Transcripts: A copy of legible transcripts MUST be provided if the applicant does not possess an associate's degree or higher in one of the qualifying fields listed above. If you have a completed degree in a field not listed in the minimum requirements, transcripts must be attached to review for relevant coursework.
2) International Coursework: Qualifying degree or coursework must have been completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
Training Experience:
1) Formal or informal training, mentoring, or teaching experience must be clearly demonstrated on the application and supplemental questionnaire. Experience may be concurrent.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with Head Start/State Preschool programs, Community Care Licensing, and Title 22 regulations.
