    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Clark County Public Guardian’s Office is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Estate Case Manager Assistant position. As a member of our team, your job duties may include protecting, preserving, managing and disposing of the estate of the protected persons served. This position explains departmental policies, laws and regulations related to guardianship to the public. The candidate will be a part of the Public Guardian’s case management staff and report to the Assistant Public Guardian.

    THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 250 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AND WILL CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE THAT NUMBER IS REACHED.

    This examination will establish a Countywide Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience: Equivalent to two (2) years of college level course work in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Health Administration, Criminal Justice, Business Administration or a field related to the work AND two (2) years of full-time experience in interviewing clients, providing information and determining eligibility for social service, medical or similar programs or providing financial/legal office support in various social service settings.

    All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application.     Working Conditions: Work in potentially traumatic or highly charged emotional environment. Required to attend meetings off-site and visit clients at their place of residence. May interface with clients in dwellings, which may be in various states of repair or cleanliness and which may not and are not required to meet handicapped accessibility standards.

    Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment.

    Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

    Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

    Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a medical examination performed by our examining physician.

    Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Performs various paraprofessional level functions to protect, preserve, manage and dispose of the estate of a protected person or client in accordance with all legal regulations and in the best interests of the client.
    • Contacts and interviews any involved parties to obtain information for formulating program/service eligibility.
    • Assists in preparing and reviewing accountings for clients and protected persons.
    • Visits and interviews clients to identify needs and assess living situations.
    • Assesses available community resources and other factors to develop an appropriate service plan.
    • Utilizes departmental guidelines and state regulations to determine/confirm eligibility for programs and services.
    • Explains departmental and program rules, regulations and procedures to clients and assists them in the preparation of applications for assistance.
    • Manages assets of a protected person /client with emphasis on balancing income against expenditures to meet all criteria or participation from outside income and service providers.
    • Reviews legal documents for accuracy such as spelling, correct case information, etc.; may e-file legal documents or route them for management review; may create the weekly court calendar by reviewing all guardianship hearings and cross referencing the information with current Public Guardian cases.
    • Provides case management assistance to Case Managers including but not limited to preparing letters and completing various forms for protected persons/clients as assigned.
    • May arrange living accommodations.
    • Maintains liaison with federal, state, city, county, and other agencies.
    • Disburses payments to representative payees at a variety of locations such as shelters and other government agencies.
    • Assists with the inventory of a protected person's/client's personal property.
    • Maintains complete and accurate case notes; maintains accurate records and files.
    • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
    • Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; drives a personal or County motor vehicle to attend meetings and make site visits.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, lift materials weighing up to 25 pounds and drive a motor vehicle in order to attend meetings or visit client homes; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
