    Job Summary

    Salary:

    Paralegal I: $25.88- $32.995

    Paralegal II: $27.42- $34.975

    Please note: This position is NOT eligible for remote work.

    Performs specialized paralegal work for the real estate section of the City Attorney’s Office, including real estate purchases, sales, licenses, easements, developments, closings, and other transactions. Reviews, prepares drafts, summarizes, analyzes, coordinates, and files documents and correspondence pertaining to real estate transactions. Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft applications required. Has demonstrated experience with real estate contracts, surveys, due diligence, title commitments and policies, and recorded documents. Employee is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in responding to inquiries from municipal employees, department managers, outside attorneys, and the general public, in personally addressing administrative matters which do not involve policy determinations, and in recognizing and immediately bringing priority matters to attorney's attention. Work is performed under attorney supervision for two (2) or more City of Orlando attorneys .

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Paralegal I: Associate's Degree in Legal Services or related field and two (2) years experience in a law or judicial office as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal, one (1) year of which must have been as a Paralegal working in an area relevant to the area of assignment (criminal law, real property, or general civil); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A paralegal certificate may substitute for the requirement of one year of paralegal work. Must demonstrate the ability to type at least 35 words per minute.

    Paralegal II: Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Legal Services or closely related field and four (4) years relevant paralegal experience in a law or judicial office in an area relevant to the area of assignment (criminal law, real property, or general civil); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must demonstrate the ability to type at least 35 words per minute.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
