The current vacancy exists in Joshua Tree , the resulting list will be used to fill vacancies in Joshua Tree only . Candidates who do not indicate a willingness to work in Joshua Tree will be disqualified.
The Office of the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk is recruiting for Appraisal Technicians to assist State Board of Equalization certified appraisers with tax assessment appraisals of real property (land and buildings) or business/personal property (business equipment and fixtures). Duties include performing field inspections, verifying and processing information submitted by property owners; measuring structures; making scale drawings; providing information on valuations; and gathering property value data.
Promotional opportunities: Experience in this position may be qualifying for entry into the professional Appraiser series.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Minimum Requirements
CANDIDATES MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OPTION REQUIREMENTS:
OPTION 1
Fifteen (15) semester (23 quarter) units of completed college coursework in accounting, business administration, statistics, real estate or other closely related field. Transcripts must be included with the application if you do not possess a completed degree.
OPTION 2
One (1) year of full-time equivalent clerical or technical experience in a County Assessor's Office performing duties involved in the production of the assessment roll or performing support functions.
OPTION 3
One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience as a bookkeeper, accountant, auditor, appraiser, building cost estimator, or a California real estate licensee engaged in buying, selling, or leasing real estate.

EDUCATION
Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and computer skills, knowledge of property valuation, and experience working in a California County Assessor's Office.
