Department of Preschool Services is recruiting for an
Assistant Director who will assist with directing the operations of the department in the delivery of preschool services for eligible participants countywide; ensuring program compliance with federal, state, and county regulations; establishing policies, goals, and objectives for the department. This position is distinguished from the Director of Preschool Services Department by the latter's overall administrative and programmatic responsibility for the total operation of the department.

Minimum Requirements CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: A completed/awarded Bachelor's degree in Business/Public Administration, Education, Early Childhood Education/Child Development, Psychology, Sociology, or Health and Human Services from an accredited university or college.
-AND- EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience as a manager or administrator in a Head Start, or other related educational setting, or a County, State, or Federal social services agency which includes responsibility for interpreting/enforcing relevant laws, rules and regulations; responsibility for program planning and development, personnel administration, operations, and budget/fiscal administration. Qualifying experience must also include full-scope responsibility for managing multiple subordinate managers and/or supervisors ( i.e., hiring, firing, counseling, disciplinary actions, assigning work, completing work performance evaluations, developing work schedules and approving time off ).
NOTE: Qualifying experience is typically equivalent to the San Bernardino County Deputy Director classification and above. PSD Program Manager, Site Supervisor/Site Director level is not considered qualifying.

Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate for this position will have a Master's degree in one of the fields noted above; and have worked in Head Start, Preschool, or other educational settings; including at least five (5) years of experience in program planning/development, grant writing/administration, state funded programs, organizational management, and budgeting. Experience working with public officials and collaborating with community stakeholders is also highly desired.
