    The Position

    The County Library is seeking a technically skilled and service-oriented professional to support and advance the technology that keeps our libraries connected and accessible. This position plays a key role in providing hands-on technical support, system oversight, and staff training across the all library locations. Working collaboratively with library staff, consortia partners, and system providers, the incumbent helps ensure the reliable operation, security, and continuous improvement of the Library’s automated systems. This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented, problem-solving individual who enjoys supporting users, maintaining diverse technologies, and contributing to the day-to-day success of a public library system serving over 130,000 residents, circulating over one million items and with hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

    This recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time vacancy. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill current and future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.

    Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Agreed Salary Increases and Winter Time Off:
    • 3.5% COLA increase effective 7/1/2026
    • 32.0 hours of Winter Time Off


    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Experience and Education :
    To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:

    Experience:
    One year of experience involving the application, operation, or repair of computer equipment. Experience in a public library environment is desired.

    Education:
    Equivalent to two years of college with course work in computer science, information processing, telecommunications, electronics or a related field. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the college education on a year-for-year basis.)

    License or Certificate:*
    Possession of a valid California Driver's License.

    *Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.

    The most qualified candidates from the oral panel interview will be placed on the eligibility list and may be considered for current and future vacancies for this position for up to one year.

    SALARY -
    Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
