    This position is in the Southwest Regional Office located at 2040 W. Woodland St., Springfield, MO 65807.

    As an Environmental Program Assistant/Analyst in the Drinking Water Section, you will be working to protect public health and ensure safe drinking water through the Missouri Safe Drinking Water Law and implementing regulations.

    • Schedule and conduct field assessments and sampling of public water systems to determine a potential cause of bacteriological positive samples.
    • Inspect public water systems to ensure compliance with the Missouri Safe Drinking Water Law and Regulations.
    • Investigate concerns of potential and existing environmental health and safety problems and issues concerning the quality of drinking water.
    • Provide technical and compliance assistance to regulated entities, and general assistance to the public.
    • Perform other related work as assigned.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure goals are met.


    To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

    • Written and Oral Communication : Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, consider the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

    • Adaptability : Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
    • Reasoning : Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.
    • A valid Missouri State Driver’s License


    Equivalent to those typically gained by:

    • A bachelor’s degree and 0 - 4 or more years of relevant experience. Preference of science major or a non-science major with 30 hours of science coursework. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
