This position Is the first person many people will encounter with Development Services, and as such must present a polished and professional demeanor. The Development Services Representative will have broad knowledge about all aspects of the department. They will answer incoming telephone calls and assist walk-in customers with basic questions about processes, requirements, required paperwork, zoning and related code questions, and direct customers to the correct staff member for more detailed information.

Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls and assist walk Ins, ensure the correct Information is recorded for all walk- In and phone customers in order to maintain correct records.
- Have broad knowledge of all aspects of the department. Know processes and procedures for all department services. Understand where to locate relevant Information from various sources
- Know what questions to ask customers to gain a proper understanding of their needs. Ensure staff is aware of customer's needs before they interact with the customer
- Understand how to create accounts, apply for permits and schedule inspections through the Dynamic Portal. Assist customers with questions about all aspects of the Dynamic Portal functions
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
- Non-Exempt - Full-Time
- Non rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
- In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Six months to one year of experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
Required to obtain within six (6) months of hire
- National Customer Service Association- Certified Customer Service Professional
