Veterinarian, Department of Public Health - San Bernardino County, CA - Alliance Resource Consulting

The San Bernardino County Department of Public Health’s Animal Care Division is seeking a Per diem Shelter Veterinarian to join its respected team in delivering high-quality medical care across the County’s animal shelters and clinics in a per diem capacity. The Animal Care Division has recently procured its first ever mobile veterinary clinic and is in the process of building a new state-of-the-art County Animal Care Center in Bloomington, California that will include a veterinary hospital. The per diem veterinarian will provide shelter medicine, high-volume spay/neuter procedures, and support community education efforts, working both at fixed sites and through the new mobile veterinary clinic, which brings vital services-such as low-cost vaccinations, microchipping, and sterilizations-to underserved communities. Animal Care is supported by a dedicated team of 115 staff, including animal control officers, veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and other animal care professionals.

This role is an exceptional opportunity for a per diem veterinarian who is passionate about animal welfare, advancing animal health and serving the community. As the County prepares to open its new, state-of-the-art Animal Care Center, the selected candidate will have the unique chance to help shape and launch innovative services at this modern facility-contributing directly to the future of animal care and well-being across the region. Subject to budget availability and County approval, this per diem position may offer the opportunity to transition into a full-time role as services expand, making it an excellent opportunity for those seeking long-term career growth and professional development.

The ideal veterinarian for this role will be a dedicated, collaborative, and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a supportive team environment and is motivated by positive outcomes. The primary focus of this position is performing high-volume spay/neuter, while also supporting animal health, public education, and community partnerships that promote responsible pet ownership and enhance public safety. If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact through service and innovation, we encourage you to apply.

Possession of a license issued by the State of California to practice as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine is required.
