Position Duties
The Environmental Services Department (ESD) is currently recruiting for a full-time Warehouse Worker I/II. Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor and receiving direction from the Senior Warehouse Worker, this position is located at the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Operating and using equipment such as trucks, forklifts, delivery trucks, vans, pallet-jacks, and similar equipment to move and warehouse stock items and various items held for term storage.
- Purchasing goods for Warehouse use, inventory or special orders for various departments using P-cards, Open Purchase Orders and Requisition Purchase Orders.
- Advises departments in identifying and specifying items for order via various avenues of research.
- Performs safety audits, hazardous material controls, etc. to ensure Warehouse compliance
- Performs other related tasks as determined by the needs of the Warehouse as required.
The Warehouse Worker I/II position is essential in ensuring that parts and equipment are ordered and stocked for the Facility as well as the efficient delivery of materials between the Facility, ESD divisions, and City Hall. The ESD Stores Warehouse hours of operation are between 6:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Actual working schedule is to be determined.
The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. The salary ranges below include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay.
Salary ranges for this classification are:
- Warehouse Worker I - $63,510.72 - $77,357.28 annually
- Warehouse Worker II - $66,087.84 - $80,327.52 annually

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Successful completion of high school, General Education Degree (GED), or California Proficiency Certificate.
Experience:
Warehouse Worker I: One (1) year of experience in performing shipping, receiving, delivery, issuing, and inventory control in a large warehouse facility similar to those of the City of San José.
Warehouse Worker II: Two (2) years performing shipping, receiving, issuing, computer inventory control and related warehouse duties in a large warehousing facility.
Required Licensing (such as driver’s license, certifications, etc.)
As a condition of employment in some designated positions, possession of a valid State of California Class A, B or C driver's license with applicable endorsements may be required.
