    PHILOSOPHY, FULL-TIME LECTURER. The Philosophy Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is seeking applications for one full-time lecturer position as determined by need and funding during the 2025-2026 academic year, beginning September 11, 2025. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Area of specialization or strong competency: Any area of technology ethics.

    The main teaching assignment will be courses in technology ethics. We strongly prefer candidates who can also teach an ethical theory course, have established or emerging research programs in technology ethics, and have experience writing, participating in or leading grant funded activities.

    Ability to work with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment is preferred.

    Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

    Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677
    Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224
    Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523
    Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,221

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    A Ph.D. in Philosophy is required at date of appointment. Ability to teach in technology ethics.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS
