    The Position

    Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists.

    PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2025-002, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL DECEMBER 31ST, 2025. Please refer to the link for more information: https://gov.nv.gov/Newsroom/ExecOrders/Executive-Orders/ This position is with the Nevada National Guard at the Battle Born Youth Challenge Academy (BBYCA) in Carlin. The Grounds Maintenance Worker III is responsible for maintaining facility grounds through a variety of landscaping, gardening, and greenhouse tasks. Duties include planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding, and the removal and prevention of snow and ice to ensure a safe and well-kept environment. This position also performs construction and repair work using hand and power tools, mowers, and trenching equipment. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) One year of experience performing grounds maintenance work using a variety of tools, equipment and techniques; OR six months of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid Driver's License. Incumbent is required to work standby/call back. Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Additional Position Criteria This position requires a valid Real ID at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
