    The Position

    Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

    Incumbent is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the NDOT's Stormwater Management Program in compliance with the NDOT's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems Permit. Incumbent is also responsible for procuring State and Federal water quality permits in support of the NDOT's construction and maintenance operations. Incumbent will act as liaison with other NDOT Divisions (e.g., Maintenance and Asset Management, Construction, Hydraulics and Design) to monitor statewide compliance; prepare correspondence in a timely manner; prepare field reports; update databases with appropriate documentation; assist in project related meetings and perform field reviews for compliance; contribute to water quality document review, preparation, and completion; develop and implement water quality program components.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities. Special Requirements A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Additional Position Criteria Do you have experience working with environmental permitting programs? Please include Clean Water Act Section 401/402/404 and Rivers and Harbors Act 408 permitting programs as applicable. When and where was this experience gained? Do you have experience assisting with MS4 Permit Stormwater Management Programs? When and where was this experience gained? Do you have experience working with Geographic Information Systems? When and where was this experience gained? Do you have experience reading and interpreting construction plans? When and where did you gain this experience? The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
