    San Bernardino County, Office of County Counsel is seeking applications for a skilled Executive Administrative Assistant to join their team. The existing vacancy is in the Litigation Unit. The positionwill perform a variety of legal assistant duties, providing litigation and administrative support services to attorneys and paralegals in the Office of County Counsel. The incumbent will process or oversee the preparation and filing of legal documents; schedule meetings; calendar litigation deadlines; maintain calendars; make travel arrangements; compose and format legal documents and correspondence; and keep abreast of court rules, regulations, and proceedings.

    ABOUT COUNTY COUNSEL

    County Counsel serves and protects the county, its treasury, and its governing body, by providing timely and accurate legal services and aggressively representing the county in litigation. Legal services shall be performed maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards while fostering high morale and productivity in the workplace through collaborative efforts dedicated to continuous improvement.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

    Visa Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

    Work Environment: Incumbents must operate with a high level of confidentiality and discretion when performing job duties.

    Minimum Requirements

    Two (2) years of recent full-time administrative assistant experience in support of professional or administrative position(s) where duties included calendaring, scheduling meetings, composing correspondence, maintaining files and records, preparing agendas, and taking minutes, of which (1) year of full-time work experience must include preparing and processing legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, and motions under an attorney's supervision .

    Experience must be within the past five (5) years.

    --AND--

    Typing: 50 w.p.m. corrected typing speed.

    NOTE: Duties must be clearly described in the work history section to be considered and appropriately placed for assigned duties within County Counsel. General Clerical experience, Internships, and Clerkships are not considered qualifying work experience. Qualifying experience is typically equivalent to the San Bernardino County Administrative Assistant classification and above.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have experience supporting attorneys in a legal office, preparing and processing confidential records and legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, and motions. The candidate should also be skilled in managing multiple calendars and assignments from multiple attorneys while working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates with experience supporting civil litigation attorneys as a legal assistant are highly desired.
