    Position Description
    Acts as lead medical technologist in a medical laboratory. Performs chemical, microscopic, serologic, hematologic, immunohematologic, parasitic or bacteriologic tests. Coordinate daily activities of the lab, maintain inventory and equipment, and perform administrative duties associated with lab. May manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adheres to approved budgets.

    Major/Essential Functions
    • Perform and validate a wide range of laboratory tests, including chemical, microscopic, serologic, hematologic, immunohematologic, parasitologic, and bacteriologic analyses.
    • Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results through strict quality control, troubleshooting, and adherence to regulatory standards.
    • Coordinate daily laboratory workflow, prioritize testing activities, and serve as the primary point of contact for operational issues.
    • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; manage inventory and ensure availability of supplies.
    • Complete and maintain required administrative documentation, logs, and compliance records; assist with audits and updates of SOPs.
    • Supervise, train, and support laboratory staff in day-to-day operations, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to procedures.
    • Participate in scheduling, performance evaluations, and personnel management as delegated.
    • Monitor resource use, support budget adherence, and contribute to operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
    • Communicate effectively with clinicians and other departments to support timely and accurate patient care.


    Required Qualifications
    A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in biologic, natural, physical, or related sciences. Medical Technologist (MT) ASCP registry. A minimum of five (5) years post registry experience as a medical technologist or as required by lab certifications.
