Licenses and Certifications Required:Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience in management, overseeing and leading teams in public safety, higher education, or a similar field.
- Experience teaching, evaluating courses, and developing curricula and academic programs of higher learning.
- Experience collaborating with internal and external public safety stakeholders to develop and sustain positive police-community relationships and engagement.
- Experience in process development, refinement, and documentation to ensure efficient and consistent implementation of training and curriculum initiatives.

The Austin Police Department (APD) is seeking a
Program Manager III to lead the Police Academy ’ s
Curriculum and Instructor Development and
eLearning (Distance Learning) teams. This leadership role provides strategic direction to Academy staff and executive leadership on implementing professional recommendations, managing and tracking curriculum initiatives, and guiding the revision efforts of the Academy ’ s Professional Advisory Committee. The Program Manager III oversees the review and development of all training curricula to ensure compliance with Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) standards and alignment with the Department ’ s mission and instructional goals. The position also serves as the primary reviewer of all Academy responses related to curriculum development and training, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to professional standards. Additional responsibilities include coordinating curriculum for cadet, in-service, leadership, response to resistance, firearms, and specialized classroom training programs.
