Job Description:Purpose:This position designs, administers, maintains, secures, and improves performance of complex databases.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:- Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Designs, analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves advanced operational and performance-related database issues; coordinates changes; maintains database structures; and assists in developing policies and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment.
- Designs, coordinates, implements, and determines procedures necessary to save and recover production databases and databases from hardware and software failure.
- Performs database performance monitoring and auditing, implements efficiency improvements, and modifies existing databases and database management systems.
- Designs, configures, and implements database network connectivity working with required technical teams.
- Monitors capacity versus utilization and recommends appropriate action on a timely basis to avoid performance degradation.
- Creates databases and database objects, such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, and stored procedures.
- Tracks database assets and critical information about those assets.
- Assists in development of data security standards to ensure data integrity data security.
- Maintains data standards and prepares and develops database documentation, procedures, and definitions for data dictionaries.
- Creates test database environment for applications section, including the creation of necessary libraries and procedures.
- Installs new software releases and/or upgrades including researching, testing, and implementing new technology.

Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of experience in a related field.
- Experience may substitute for education for up to four (4) years.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with implementing and supporting Microsoft Hybrid environment, seamless integrating on-premise infrastructure with Azure services.
- Strong experience with ETL/ELT frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt, Azure Data Factory).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Experience working with (SSIS) SQL Server Integrations services, Azure Synapse.
- Ability to travel.

- Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve advanced operational and performance related database issues, coordinate changes, and maintain database structures. Conduct performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
- Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity. Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, encryption, and auditing.
- Design and implement solutions for high availability and disaster recovery to ensure business continuity. Conduct regular testing of disaster recovery plans to validate effectiveness.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design, create and implement efficient and scalable database structures including objects, such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, and stored procedures.
- Maintain data standards, prepare and develop database documentation, procedures, and definitions for data dictionaries. Assist in development of data security standards to ensure data integrity data security
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools for routine database tasks. Implement automation for monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning.
- Plan and execute database software patches and upgrades. Ensure compatibility with existing applications and perform thorough testing.
- Liaise with vendors and solution architect to understand product road maps, resolve issues, and stay informed.
WORK HOURS40hrs per week; M-F 8:30am - 5:30 pm
Shift may change according to departmental needs; work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work.
SALARY$85,120.00 - $109,400.00 annually
TRAVELThis position requires traveling to multiple sites as part of the regular job duties. A driving record verification will be conducted. If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
ASSESSMENTA skills assessment will be required for this position.
