    The Position

    Employee Development Managers and Training Officers analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage and coordinate training and development for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function and supervise and/or conduct sessions for vocation and/or skills training in specific occupational areas and general management development.

    The Nevada State Controller's Office is recruiting for a Training Officer II. The work location is in Carson City. The incumbent will develop, revise, and update training curricula. Tasks include drafting course outlines, establishing learning and performance objectives, writing instructor guides, designing student learning activities and other student materials, and creating slide decks, job aids, videos, and other visual aids to support the delivery of instruction. The incumbent may serve as an instructor for these programs and other courses sponsored by the Controller's Office, providing both classroom-based delivery and delivery via MS-TEAMS. Specific instructional duties include scheduling courses, managing student registration and communications, teaching courses, and contributing to course revisions based on student and instructor evaluations. The incumbent will back up the financial help desk, which will provide hands-on-system knowledge, insight into areas where users need assistance, and for development and revision of training materials to better serve users. Other tasks include assisting with updates to policies and procedures, various documents, and websites. Knowledge of the following is desired, but not required: Advantage, DAWN, Adobe, Microsoft products (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc), Storyline, Articulate, and Success Factors Learning Management System.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business or public administration or a related field and three years of professional experience in the adult and/or employee training and development process including conducting training needs assessments; planning and developing curriculum; and coordinating and conducting formal training; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as described above; OR one year experience as a Training Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Additional Position Criteria Please describe your experience using a variety of audio-visual equipment, computers, and computer software, and learning management systems such as Advantage, DAWN, Storyline, Articulate and when and where you obtained this experience. Please describe your teaching experience instructing adult students across a wide variety of disciplines and in developing curricula for financial system users. Please indicate when and where you acquired the experience. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
