The Position Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker 2, Intake Coordinator, within Southern Nevada Child and Adolescent Services (SNCAS) at the South Neighborhood Family Center (Henderson) in the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Services (ECMHS) and Children's Clinical Services program. Psychiatric Caseworkers perform targeted case management services: assess youth's needs and resources to determine the level of assistance needed; provide appropriate information, linkages and referrals; monitor the progress of youth in treatment; partner with youth, families, and other team members to develop and facilitate child and family team meetings; coordinate discharge and aftercare services. This is a full-time position with a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level. Special Notes As part of the hiring process, applicants may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
