    Workdays & Hours: Fri - Mon 6am-4pm (working in office team environment)

    24/7 Operation - weekend work may be required. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies which will be subject to work after hours, emergency call back hours, nights, weekends, holidays and will participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

    Want to be the calm voice that keeps a city moving? Fort Worth Water is hiring Water Dispatch Representatives to support our 24/7 Field Operations Division-ensuring fast, reliable communication between crews in the field and residents in need.

    In this role, you'll receive and log incoming service requests, coordinate response teams via two-way radio, manage utility locates, and maintain accurate records in our work management system. Your work ensures timely response to everything from routine water issues to emergency outages-making you a key link in protecting public health and infrastructure.

    If you've worked in utility dispatch, public safety call centers, or fast-paced customer service roles and are ready to help keep Fort Worth's essential services running smoothly, this is your opportunity to step into a role that truly matters.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • One (1) year of directly related customer service or dispatch experience.
    • Ability to work any and all assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Assigned shifts are subject to change to support the operational needs

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with two-way radio communications
    • Bilingual English/Spanish skills
    • Previous experience working with busy, 24/7 dispatching operations
    • Previous experience working with large utility
    • Previous experience working with Utility locate operations. (Texas811, LoneStar811, Korea)

    Water Dispatch Representative responsibilities include:
    • Check for calls sent from customer service, validate locations, and dispatch crews in a timely manning using a two-way radio.
    • Create work orders as required using a work management system, enter information into spreadsheets.
    • Communicate with work crews throughout the shift exchanging information to be entered into the system.
    • Maintain daily call log for all internal and external customer calls.
    • Perform a variety of general clerical duties, including data entry, correspondence, filing, and word processing.
    • Participate in training for new employees.
    • Provides emergency dispatch for internal and external departments after hours.
    • Maintains logs of keys checked in and out by crews and supervisors.
    • Requests utility locates to ensure crew and customer safety

    Working Conditions and Physical Demand:

    Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing and balancing.

    Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    Medical Program

    The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.

    The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s

    primary health care services that are 100% completely free and unlimited. Employees can visit any one of the three City of Fort Worth Employee Health Centers and receive guaranteed same or next day appointments for sick visits. Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.

    The Consumer Choice Plan – Is offered to employees at no cost or low monthly premiums to cover eligible dependents and provides the financial benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA).

    • Preventative services are covered at 100% on both plans.
    • Prescription Drug coverage including mail order pharmacy are also included.

    Vacation

    Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually
    6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business.

    Holidays

    Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
