Government Jobs in Montana

There are plenty of government jobs available right now across the state of Montana. Whether you’re looking for a role in data entry, public health, or working with the general public, you’re sure to find the best job for you.

Right now, Montana’s unemployment rate is only 2.9% percent. This is great news, showing us that there’s no shortage of jobs.

Public Health

Public health roles don’t necessarily mean you’ll be working in a clinic. These jobs exist within medical and health related departments, such as dental technicians, patient services representatives, community health specialists, and social workers. In these roles, you may be working with pertinent information or medical records, emergency situations, and other health related work environments.

Public Safety

Working in the public safety division means you’ll encounter both emergency and non emergency situations. The public safety department has many levels and departments, and Montana is hiring for positions throughout the division. These positions are full time, and the pay range depends on your experience working in the field. Jobs like probationary detention officers, public safety communication officers, and juvenile detention officers are currently available.

Environmental Services

Environmental service roles deal with maintaining air, water, and land quality. In Montana, many environmental positions are available due to the large portion of the state being a natural wonder. To name a couple, you can apply for an environmental health role or an environmental health program support specialist. This department performs related work surrounding health and the environment.

Planning and Development

A planning and development role will often be delegated to someone who helps develop plans for a specific city or area. These areas may be Missoula MT, or Helena MT, which are two of the most well-known cities, right behind Billings and Bozeman. Laurel, Montana, is currently hiring for a city planner in their area.

Government jobs often require more extensive qualifications for their positions, depending on the department and level. Everyone comes from different backgrounds and experiences, so don’t worry if you don’t immediately find a job you’re qualified for.

You can use the resources listed above to help narrow down your results to better fit your qualifications. How to Prepare for your Government Applications

Many government positions will require you to have a certain skill set. Think back on every job you’ve had previously and decide what you’ve learned and gained from those experiences. I’m sure you have accumulated many skills over the years!

You’ll have to know how to maintain effective working relationships, and you may train new employees, be in charge of department supervision, offer administrative assistance, or be held accountable for a large portion of responsibilities in your role.

Always read the job requirements fully to decide if you’re qualified and determine if it’s a position that you’ve comfortable working in.

In the requirements, you’ll also notice a set of certain qualities, living in a specific location or having performed certain duties specific to your role.
