Position DescriptionTacoma Power's Power Management Resource Planning and Analytics group is looking for a Evaluation and Load Research Analyst to join our team. This position leads the utility's customer load research work and evaluation efforts for energy efficiency programs and other demand-side offerings (demand response, rate designs to manage demand, etc.). This position’s work helps Tacoma Power understand how customers use energy, how energy use will change over time, and how we can best take advantage of energy efficiency and other demand-side resources to manage those changes. This work is critical for ensuring that Tacoma Power continues to be able to serve customers with low-cost and reliable power.
Responsibilities include:- Study design: Employ advanced knowledge of research methods, statistical techniques and rigorous evaluation principles to develop research and analysis designs tailored specifically to the program being evaluated or question that needs answered.
- Complex data analysis: Use code-based statistical language (Python, R, Stata, etc.) to filter, clean and analyze data from a variety of internal and external data sources.
- Survey design, execution and analysis: Develop data collection instruments, oversee survey implementation, and use data analytical tools to analyze survey results
- Economic analysis: Using findings from statistical analyses, conduct economic analysis to inform operational, strategic or policy recommendations.
- Visualization: Produces visuals, interactive dashboards and reports to assist leadership and stakeholders with decision-making
- Presentation: Present research findings & recommendations to internal staff, executives, public utility board and external trade groups
- Ad-hoc analysis work: Lead or contribute unique technical expertise to high-impact analytical projects for other groups within the utility as needed.
- Collaboration: Manage relationships with internal stakeholders throughout the utility and represent Tacoma Power at external trade group meetings.
- In some cases, this position will be responsible for directing work of staff or external contractors.
Qualifications Minimum Education* Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science, economics, statistics, mathematics or directly related field
Minimum Experience 4 years of experience in statistical analysis, data modeling or data analytics including 1 year prior at senior, lead and/or supervisory level
*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Positions in this class typically require:
- remaining in a stationary position for 90% of the time with occasional movement to access office files, machinery and similar productivity tools (standing, sitting, walking).
- constant operation of a computer, as well as use of a calculator, printer and similar office tools (fingering, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions).

Work may also occasionally require:
- movement around the workplace to pick up objects (stooping, walking, reaching).

- exerting up to 20 pounds of force to move, transport or position objects (light work).
Knowledge & Skills Desired Qualifications - Expert knowledge of applied statistics, impact evaluation, survey design, sample design, and data collection.
- Ability to use statistics to form accurate and well-reasoned conclusions and recommendations.
- Effective project management skills.
- Familiarity with energy conservation measures and evaluation and measurement best practices.
Pay Details: Annual Salary: $118,560.00 - $166,920.00

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
