    Please note : The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above.

    This position will be located at Harry S Truman State Park, 28761 State Park Road, Warsaw, Missouri 65355. Shift is primarily Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm with a half hour lunch break. Shifts may vary with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility; that could include working nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts. Must be available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.

    • Responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair of state buildings and facilities.
    • Work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete, and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities, grounds, and cemeteries.
    • Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
    • Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
    • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
    • Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed with the completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
    • May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.
    • Keep track of mowing/string trimming that needs to be completed and either delegate or complete the task
    • Achieve Required Certifications within the first year of employment


    • This position is required to obtain and maintain a Water Distribution Level 1 and a Wastewater Treatment D license. If you do not currently possess either license, you will be given twelve (12) months from the first day of employment to obtain necessary licenses.

    • Physical Strength and Agility : Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time; ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work.
    • Problem Solving (*) : Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
    • Industrial Equipment Operation - Knowledge of principles and methods for operating industrial equipment.
    • Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings


    Equivalent to those typically gained by:

    • 1 - 3 years of experience in any of the following trade areas: electrical, plumbing, concrete and masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair.
