    POSITION SUMMARY

    Join us and play a pivotal role in our Public Works Department.

    In this role you will be responsible for maintaining all existing pump stations, wastewater treatment plant, and water treatment plants, wellfields, lift stations and tanks control systems to include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to allow citywide wastewater treatment. Keeps all Stormwater pumping facilities at peak performance to allow streets and buildings to be free from floods when gravity systems fail during storm conditions. Maintains all wastewater flow meters. Maintains and repairs closed circuit television (CCTV) systems. Employee consults with and trains employees engaged in work in electro technology.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.     • Organizes, directs, and participates in the installation, testing, maintenance, calibration, and repair of electrical wiring systems, motors, generators, transformers, switches, and related fixtures, equipment and instruments
    • Acts as lead worker in the installation, repair, and replacement of instruments and electronic systems and components used for measuring flow, pressure, temperature, etc. in water and wastewater plants, pumping stations, wellfields, and related facilities
    • Repairs and replaces industrial electrical and/or electronic panels, fuses, switches, and wiring
    • Maintains records; prepares and presents reports on the installation, maintenance, testing, calibration, repair, and replacement of equipment
    • Maintains switches, switch components, and transformers
    • Conducts or attends meetings with other trades for problem solving and planning
    • Assists in preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
    • Ensures compliance with safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and applicable electrical codes
    • Read and interpret specifications, schematics, blueprints and diagrams.
    • May be required to perform "stand-by duty", being available and responding to off-duty emergency call-ins to effect repairs to malfunctioning electrical, electronic and/or instrument systems
    • Works around medium voltage, rotating equipment and various hazardous chemicals
    • Performs related work as required


    JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Have successfully graduated from a standard high school or trade school or possess an acceptable G.E.D. certificate.Must possess five (5) years experience in a commercial and or industrial job site.Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education.Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida driver's license within 30 days after hireIf claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form (J-204) to the online application. As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

    PREFERENCE
    Electrical Journeyman License.

    REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    The position involves medium physical demands, such as exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel and climb ladders up to 30 feet in performing a variety of job-related tasks.
