Department Program Auditor!
The
Department Program Auditor position will perform activities that relate to the prevention, detection, prosecution, and enforcement of over-issuance, overpayments, and fraud in all economic social services programs. This position will audit and conduct investigation of suspected fraud in the area of Food & Nutrition Services, Medicaid, Work First Cash Assistance, Child Care Services and Emergency Assistance Programs.
Essential Functions include: - Reconstructs cases by examination of agency records, budgets, online verification, contacting federal, state, local and private employers as well as interviewing citizens are necessary to substantiate or unsubstantiate allegation
- Performing in-depth assessments as well as gathering and documenting information, negotiating, analyzing and/or evaluating data
- Initiates action to prosecute individuals and enforce claims and/or judgments order by the courts. Keep abreast of policies and procedures governing all economic programs

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Bachelor's degree
- Three years of job-related experience
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted
- Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume.
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Three years or more of experience in eligibility determination in a State or County Economic Benefit Program to include at least years in Food and Nutrition Services Program in NC Fast, State Network Systems and Social Media
- Spanish language skills are preferred but not required
How Will We Know You're 'The One'? - Proficient in determining eligibility in multiple State and County Economic Benefit Programs (including Food and Nutrition Services required and one additional program)
- Demonstrate ability to interpret and explain Federal and North Carolina DHHS policies
- Must have superior verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in information technology
- Strong research skills
- Ability to work under pressure and multiple task are essential
- Ability to assess and conduct through investigations
- Ability to prioritize work and work independently
- Build, establish and maintain positive productive relationship with peers, colleagues, law enforcement and consumers
- Demonstrate a high degree of adaptability and managing changes
