City of Hanford

With a population exceeding 55,000, Hanford is a growing city that offers a unique blend of old and new, historic and contemporary living environments. While "quality of life" is a term used by many, it is especially appropriate in Hanford where the concern and caring of its community members is obvious in the high standards maintained.

Hanford is a charming community that is famous for its historic preservation. Our award-winning downtown is the envy of many cities in California. With over 350 unique businesses, its one of a kind shops and restaurants always offer something new to discover.  Its Civic Auditorium, old Courthouse and jail building, historic carousel, and Superior Dairy ice cream restaurant as well as the safe and clean atmosphere attract visitors from all over the world. The City prides itself on its positive image as a smaller city that values friendly service, unique experiences, art, culture and history where people have a strong sense of community and where they want to raise their children.

Hanford is ideally situated near the Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.  You can camp in the Sierras and hike many forest trails, take a stroll through the Trail of 100 Giants to view the largest trees in the world, enjoy horseback riding, and visit the Central Coast.
