California Public Utilities Commission

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is recognized internationally for its innovative and proactive policy initiatives. The policy standards we create for California often influence national regulatory trends and federal policies. The CPUC, headquartered in San Francisco and with offices in Sacramento and Los Angeles, regulates safety, standards of service, and financial policies for over 650 privately-owned natural gas, electric, telecommunications, water, sewer, steam and pipeline utilities, as well as truck, bus, railroad, rapid rail transit, light rail transit, ferry, limousine and other transportation companies in California. If you would like to apply, please go to http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/PUC/jobs / and you can register and fill out an application online. With our new automated application system, you can view and apply to multiple exams once you have registered and completed an initial application. For the PURA exam, you will be expected to enter in details regarding your coursework that you have taken, so please have coursework information ready prior to applying online. In addition to applying online, candidates can view a detailed job description, view the current exam schedule, and search current openings at the Commission. Once you are registered and have completed the application, you can at any time add information to your profile to keep your application current, print out copies of your application and check the status of your application for a particular exam
