The 800-acre plantation includes farmed land with heritage breed animals, a Revolutionary War battlefield site with interpretive trail, and a nature preserve with walking trails. Seasonal events, re-enactments, and living history programs interpret life in the Carolina Backcountry from the 1750s to the 1850s. Historic Brattonsville's award-winning African-American programs are an essential part of telling the story of the Carolina Piedmont. Hewitt at Michael.Hewitt@yorkcountygov.com Duties & Responsibilities: Maintains a high level of security and safety awareness at all times, ensuring the safety and security of inmates, staff and the general public through the proper enforcement of administrative and operational policies and procedures. Performs a variety of security duties associated with post assignment, which may include booking inmates, overseeing initial showering and issuing supplies, escorting inmates / assisting with inmate movement within the facility, controlling and accounting for inmates’ property, patrolling assigned areas, etc. Observes and interacts with inmates to detect security problems; maintains order and discipline among inmates; assists in coordinating daily activities and programs involving inmates and visitors. Supervises inmate meals, visitation, recreation and exercise, educational activities, telephone privileges, counseling, court visits, and medical attention; issues clean clothing and personal hygiene items; administers medications to inmates as prescribed and to include blood sugar checks. CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Must possess basic jail certification, valid state driver’s license is required in order to gain required certification thru the S.C. Law Enforcement Academy; must possess CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, Juvenile Specifics certification, Security Awareness, NAMI, Preventing Harassment, and Workplace Violence training. Must attend annual PREA training. NOTE: All training will be provided while on the job. The ability to obtain the certifications are required within the first year of employment. May be required to possess or obtain other certifications as deemed necessary by the department head and also may be required to possess firearms certification and maintain proficiency in the use and maintenance of firearms.
