City of Ceres

Welcome to the City of Ceres - a pleasant place to visit and a wonderful place to live! Ceres is situated in the northern San Joaquin Valley off State Highway 99 in the center of Stanislaus County, between the cities of Modesto and Turlock. With a current population of 45,719 (2012) Ceres is known as a growing community with a heartfelt commitment to retaining its small neighborhood personality.

Ceres is located in the center of the State of California, 300 miles (482 kilometers) north of Los Angeles, 100 miles (161 kilometers) east of San Francisco and 90 miles (145 kilometers) south of California's state capital city of Sacramento. Ceres is conveniently located in the heart of Stanislaus County on State Highway 99, approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of Interstate Highway 5. Ceres is also near State Highways 108 and 132, which can take you to and over the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range.

A 90-minute drive to the east takes you to the beauty and serenity of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, where you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Yosemite National Park and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, or you can escape with a hike in the Emigrant Basin Wilderness area.

An hour and a half drive to the west takes you to the exciting city on the bay, San Francisco. Here, a traveler can experience the romance and diversity of entertainment, such as the theater and cuisine, that only a large metropolitan city can provide.
