The Position The City of Riverside is accepting applications for the position of Senior Street Maintenance Worker to fill one (1) vacancy in the Street Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department . The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months. The Street Maintenance Division is responsible for providing maintenance of the public infrastructure to ensure the safe, efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Approximately 44 employees are assigned to one of several crews responsible for paving, slurry seal application, filling potholes, fabricating/installing signs (regulatory/warning/directional), repairing walls/fencing, repairing guardrails, removal and repair of concrete (curb/gutter, sidewalks, cross gutters, spandrels, wheelchair ramps, etc.), chemical application for weed control, street painting (striping, legends, crosswalks, edge lines, etc.), removing graffiti, responding to storm events, etc. The ideal candidate for the Senior Street Maintenance Worker position will be highly dependable, able to work a 9/80 schedule with some overtime. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION This position plans, develops and supervises the activities of the Wastewater Divisions, which includes the functional areas of Production, Treatment, Project Management, and Environmental Quality. The Wastewater Treatment Operations Supervisor is responsible for the administration and supervision of operational programs, budget, capital programs, discipline, direction of staff, development of strategic objectives, activities and other functions relating to the safety job hazard, analyze standard operation procedures, operation, and maintenance of departmental processes and facilities established by Assistant Public Works Director and Director. Supervises Division staff, either directly or through subordinates. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Assistant Public Works Director and Director. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervision is exercised directly over a staff of collection system maintenance workers, waste water treatment plant operations, lab analyst, pre-treatment inspector, or others assigned to division. May also supervise temporary employees. Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE At least (3) years of project management experience directly involved with water/wastewater infrastructure. At least three (3) years of experience in support of operation of water or wastewater plant operations. Lead or supervisory experience preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Valid State driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment. Possession of current Arizona Certification as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I or higher , or ability to obtain within one year of hire/promotion, and ultimately possess a Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate within five years of hire/promotion.
