PURPOSE : Under the general supervision of COAST Director, the Science Policy Specialist will lead COAST’s efforts at local, state and national levels to engage policy and decision-makers including resource management agency staff, legislative members and staff, nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, and industry. The incumbent will advance COAST’s parallel, complementary goals of 1) securing external funding to support solution-oriented scientific research and 2) serving as a primary resource for guidance and expertise to promote evidence-based decision-making and policy development. The incumbent will communicate the activities, successes and impact of COAST and its members to stakeholders and the public; work to position COAST and its members to leverage state, federal, and private funding opportunities; and secure additional resources to support COAST programmatic activities. Diverse funding streams In consultation with the Director, develop a strategy and lead efforts to diversify COAST’s funding portfolio. Position COAST members for funding and advocate for involvement of CSU faculty members and students in initiatives that provide opportunities for cutting-edge research, education, and workforce development, particularly at the state level. Represent COAST’s interests and goals at state and national levels and interface with policy makers and resource managers. Analyze and distill relevant policies and opportunities for distribution to members. Write proposals and coordinate with state agencies and others in support of COAST’s mission, goals, and activities. Oversee development of CSU ocean- and coastal-related faculty member database. 4. Programmatic support and project management Participate in monthly COAST Executive Committee calls and semi-annual retreats, COAST Annual Meeting, and other virtual or in-person meetings as needed. PURPOSE : Reporting to the Dean of the College of Education and under the general direction of the Chair of the Department of Education and Leadership, the Educational Placement Coordinator provides program leadership and strategic direction for placement-based activities for students across the College of Education completing external internships and student teaching degree and credential requirements. The Department of Education and Leadership in the College of Education offers programs in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, School Psychology, Speech Language Pathology, and a Master of Arts in Education. Job Summary The purpose of this position is to ensure the safe use of campus biological agents, recombinant DNA and biohazards in accordance with CalOSHA, NIH Guidelines and other applicable regulations. This position will also be responsible for chairing the Institutional Biosafety Committee and will review and approve biological use authorizations (BUA) campus wide. This position provides support to other laboratory safety programs across multiple colleges to promote the safety of faculty, staff and students. Develops, implements, and monitors campus environmental and safety programs, systems, procedures, and training in biosafety. Job Summary The purpose of this position is to ensure the safe use of campus biological agents, recombinant DNA and biohazards in accordance with CalOSHA, NIH Guidelines and other applicable regulations. This position will also be responsible for chairing the Institutional Biosafety Committee and will review and approve biological use authorizations (BUA) campus wide. This position provides support to other laboratory safety programs across multiple colleges to promote the safety of faculty, staff and students. Key Responsibilities Serves as the Campus Biosafety Officer (BSO), ensuring the safe use of campus bioagents and biohazards. Develops, implements, and monitors campus environmental and safety programs, systems, procedures, and training in biosafety. A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.
