The Position: Has immediate charge of a Group II level community library, or coordinates a regional specialized library service or department-wide special service program; or performs highly-specialized work evaluating and selecting materials for the department's collection; or directs the performance of difficult Technical Services support functions. This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies with the Tulare County Library The anticipated life of the list is six months. This position is responsible to perform a wide variety of technical/professional library work and to assist with training of library staff. Librarian I is the entry level class for the Librarian series. A Librarian I is normally considered to be in a training status and duties are initially performed under the close supervision of an experienced librarian. As progress warrants and assigned responsibility and breadth of knowledge increase with experience, a Librarian I with a Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university may reasonably expect to be promoted to the next higher class of Librarian II.
