Minimum Qualifications Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. At least 6 months of any equivalent combination of training and experience in education and/or recreation, or related work, which provides the desirable knowledge, skills and abilities associated with the position. Possession and retention of a valid California Class C driver's license is a condition of employment. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is also required. DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Knowledge of : Indoor/outdoor activities, sports, and outdoor recreation; event planning. Experience in fitness training, baseball and softball is highly desirable. Ability to : Work in a team environment and as an individual, work outside in all weather conditions, communicate effectively in English and Spanish, using proper grammar and spelling, both verbally and in writing; operate current office software and equipment and educational software applications; work with large groups of all ages. Job Summary Reporting to the Health and Wellness Manager, with additional lead work direction from the Head Athletic Trainer, the Athletic Trainer II works more independently while performing the full range of clinical athletic training functions for the student athletes of the intercollegiate teams at Sonoma State University. The incumbent has expertise in making clinical judgements regarding injuries and treatments and is involved in program coordination, assists in program development, coordinates or assigns other Athletic Trainers and provides direction and training to less experienced Athletic Trainers, and serves as backup especially in the absence of the Head Athletic Trainer.
