Under general supervision by a Senior Maintenance Worker and Maintenance Supervisor, employees in MWII positions provide lead direction to small and large crews engaged in the maintenance and repair of sewers, streets, and public facilities. MWIIs are major contributors to the Department's efforts to provide exceptional service to its customers and all have important field responsibilities. Assist with stewardship of resources, both natural and cultural. Participate in controlled burns, invasive plant removal and other resource management related projects. Participate in off-site controlled burns at other parks in the unit, and/or to help meet Region or Statewide management goals. Maintain a working knowledge of park rules, regulations, procedures and policies. Attend mandatory and other trainings including overnight stays to learn new or enhance existing skills. Fire Certification, S-190 or MDC Level 1, must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment. These positions will be required to have certifications in wastewater operation and/or water distribution or other required certifications depending on facility operation plan, If you do not have current certification, you will be given 12 months from appointment date to obtain the necessary certifications. Problem Solving : Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make Equivalent to those typically gained by: One to three years of experience in a variety of trade areas including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair.
