This is semi-skilled and/or skilled work in operating equipment and performing other diversified manual and maintenance work in the Parks and Recreation Department. Employees in this class may function as a lead worker of a small crew.
Depending on the area of assignment, the employee may operate a variety of medium equipment requiring skill and manual dexterity such as street sweepers, small bulldozers, front-end loaders, dump, roll-off, claw, or crane trucks. Employees who operate less complex equipment also function as a lead worker over a small crew and/or perform more diversified tasks. An employee in this class may also be responsible for performing a variety of other maintenance and repair tasks in the Parks and Recreation Department. Work is performed under the supervision of a higher ranking employee and is subject to review by the supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and one (1) to three (3) years of related experience using equipment powered by motor and other hand tools.
- For non-supervisory/lead worker positions, must have at least one (1) year experience in trimming trees, removing trees, stump grinding, and general tree knowledge. Must have the ability to climb and work in high locations and hazardous situations. Must be proficient in the operation of the following pieces of equipment utilized in the position: aerial bucket trucks, chippers, stump grinders, chain saws, and pole saws.
- Depending on the area of specialization: OPEESA certification, LCTT certification, and or Public Ornamental and Turf Pest Control license.
- Requires CDL-B with airbrakes. May require CDL -A
