The purpose of this class is to implement and assist in the development of comprehensive County-wide occupational safety and health programs and policies and to ensure operations are in compliance with OSHA regulations and County policy. This class works under the general supervision of the Safety Manager, but considerable leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative.
Requires a Bachelor's degree preferably in occupational safety and health or a closely related field or a Bachelor's degree and significant occupational safety and health training or equivalent experience. Requires knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, standards, and best practice guidelines relating to occupational safety and health. Must possess a valid state driver's license. May be required to possess or obtain specific safety certifications as deemed necessary by supervisor. Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation is desirable. Requires three years of experience. Experience in both general industry and construction is desirable. Prior experience as an OSHA Compliance Officer is desirable.
