Job Description

The City of Menlo Park is currently accepting applications for the Recreation Leader (Part-Time, Temporary) position stationed at the Belle Haven After School Program throughout the year. We are hoping to fill two part-time positions that will work 20-30 hours per week.

Essential job functions
Typical job functions include planning, organizing, and supervising children who attend the after school program, developing age appropriate activities and curriculum, and communicating regularly with parents and staff. Applicant is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe facility and poses knowledge of safe operating practices. Applicant is responsible for snack preparation and is responsible for the health and safety of children in their care.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate would possess a strong work-ethic and a desire to work with school-age children on class activities and projects; plans age-appropriate curriculum, learning experiences and activities to develop, physical, language, and social skills; designs activities to enhance the child's self-esteem and independence. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects, including children, up to 30 pounds.

These are non-benefited temporary positions. A temporary employee may not work more than 1000 hours per year and will receive sick leave in accordance with State Law.
