ASSOCIATE DEAN, RONXIANG XU COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator III position.
The University: California State University, Los Angeles, under the leadership of President, William A. Covino, is one of 23 campuses of the California State University system. Founded in 1947, the University is in the city of Los Angeles, adjacent to the San Gabriel Valley, and has more than 28,000 students who reflect the rich ethnic diversity of the area.
The Position: The Associate Dean will report to the Dean of the College and assists the Dean in all aspects of College administration and management including broad responsibilities in the following major areas: curriculum oversight, innovation and assessment, enrollment management, faculty professional development/affairs, student development/affairs, research, and economic development. The Associate Dean will also provide leadership for the Rongxiang Xu College of Health and Human Services, Advising Center, student learning assessment and retention, general education, and instructional technology. The Associate Dean ensures the integrity, excellence and ongoing development of the College's educational programs and serves as liaison on various administrative committees. The successful candidate will be committed to the academic success of all of our students and to an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates diversity and differences. In addition, the successful candidate will be ready to join faculty, staff, students, and administrators in our University's shared commitment to the principles of engagement, service, and the public good.
Required Qualifications and Experience: Ph.D. in a field that satisfies eligibility for appointment to the rank of full professor in any of the departments or schools within the Rongxiang Xu College of Health and Human Services. The incumbent must have successful university teaching experience, and in building leadership on research. The incumbent must possess excellent organizational, administrative, communication (both oral and written), and interpersonal skills. The incumbent must have the ability to develop and implement the best practices and processes in the College and work collaboratively with faculty and administrators. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
Desired Qualifications: Three years of leadership experience in higher education academic administration. Administrative experience and demonstrated success in curriculum development, University policies and procedures, faculty personnel processes and procedures, student affairs policies and procedures, and lecturer retention. Demonstrated success in college-level teaching at the undergraduate program levels; research, scholarly and/or creative activities in the fields of health and/or human services. Familiarity with a collective bargaining environment and Cal State LA policies and regulation governing curriculum, instruction and student affairs.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
Appointment: The Administrator III appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
