Camp Runs June 19 - August 7, 2020
Hours vary between 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
*Additional work may be available off season (August/September)

Starting at $50.17/Day plus Room & Board, with Class B Drivers License $70.88/Day plus Room & Board.

*Room & Board includes: housing, utilities, and meals during food service delivery periods.

The Ideal Program Counselor Candidate is someone who:

  • Is able to work in an active, outdoor South Lake Tahoe environment including hiking, lifeguarding, sports, and games;
  • Is flexible, yet dependable

Program Counselors will further the mission of Camp Concord through the planning and delivery of program activities and events. The Program Counselor is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. Located in South Lake Tahoe, Camp Concord is a high energy Family and Group Rental Camp where everyone shares unique talents and abilities to accomplish goals as a team. Activities take place on camp grounds as well as on local beaches, lakes and trails throughout the Tahoe area. This position plays a key role in the development and delivery of excellent customer service, quality programming and an incredibly positive vacation experience for our campers. Position includes meals and housing at Camp during time of employment. You can expect to work hard and to make friendships that will last a lifetime.

Examples of duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Under the direction of the Camp Director and Program Coordinator, assist in creating a positive team environment.
  • Plan, lead and supervise social and recreation activities for adults and children including but not limited to crafts, campfires, and nature and waterfront activities.
  • Complete activity lesson plans for multiple age groups and gather supplies and materials needed. Learn and implement all aspects of camp hospitality plan by ensuring positive interaction with guests at all times.
  • Ensure campers and staffs follow safety procedures in all program areas at all times. Responsible for leading and assisting with the teaching of activities.
  • Assist in program areas such as waterfront, nature, all camp activities, and arts and crafts as directed.
  • Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to Camp Director.
  • Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.
  • Provide constructive, responsible leadership and guidance to participating families.
  • Ability to positively motivate kids, teens and adults; creating a safe and enjoyable experience for campers.
  • Assist families with issues, problems, and inconveniences that periodically arise. Assist with camp check in and check out process as needed.
  • Drive and/or escort family campers to activity areas throughout the Tahoe Basin via 15 passenger van.
  • Ability to work with all staff to develop best work practices and problem solve.
  • Must follow all staff policies and procedures to ensure a safe work and living environment. Perform other duties as required.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, able to multi-task, demonstrate excellent hospitality and customer service, and maintain grace under pressure. Experience in program planning and supervision of groups preferred. Maturity, ability to work with staff of all ages, a positive attitude and love of working with family members of all ages is a must.

  • Minimum age to apply: 18
  • Standard First Aid & Community CPR and AED certificate. *Lifeguard Certificate. *TB clearance. *CA Food Handler Card/ServSafe Certificate.
  • Must complete requirements and receive California Class B Driver License with Passenger Endorsement by May 1st to receive driving pay rate.
  • Must successfully participate in a mandatory, paid staff orientation training June 8th - 18th.
*Requirements must be obtained as a condition of employment. Necessary training, certifications, and information can be provided.

  • Previous experience working with different age groups and/or previous camp experience.
