The City of Taylor is seeking candidates to be a Zamboni Operator at the Taylor Sportsplex, within the City of Taylor. While there is no required experience, previous experience on or around a Zamboni or ice arena is certainly preferred. POSITION SUMMARY : Operation of the Zamboni at the Taylor Sportsplex, in order to resurface the ice during the high volume of hockey games that the arena hosts. This job also requires a willingness to assist in nightly cleaning of the building. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Key Tasks and Responsibilities; other duties may be assigned by the Director and/or designee) Operate the Zamboni on a regular basis, be it weeknights or weekends. General cleaning of the building, including but not limited to sweeping of bleachers, benches, penalty boxes, arena floors etc. Removal of garbage bags from the facility when necessary. Ability to complete a compressor check. Assist with the conduction of arena conversions, including laying the ice in the fall and its removal in the spring, as well as removal of glass and boards panels. PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift, handle, and carry, supply, small-wares, equipment, garbage bags, supplies and paper goods at a minimum of 10 pounds constantly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Must be able to occasionally stand for multiple hours at a time. Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and squat on a frequent basis to be able to clean certain areas. Must be able to communicate effectively and listen attentively to employees and customers. Must be able to work the hours necessary to ensure that the Taylor Sportsplex, as a building, is maintained in a cleanly manner primarily during large events, and is in good order for either the afternoon shift to come in, or the morning shift to take over the next day. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Essential Functions: Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of Student Success and Advising, the Administrative Support Coordinator has broad responsibility for the day-to-day operations and specialized activities supporting advising across the campus and the University Academic Advising Center. The incumbent will: provide administrative and clerical support to the Executive Director of Student Success and Advising and the UAAC Director; coordinate student employee hires; train and provide work direction to student assistants; process hiring forms for staff, graduate assistants, and student assistants; prepare monthly attendance, payroll, and leave of absence reports; process travel arrangements and expense claims; coordinate and schedule workshops and campus-wide advising institutes and forums; create and maintain electronic and hard copy filing system; gather assessment and survey data; track and reconcile budget, monitor expenditures, and develop budget forecast; interact with and solve problems for students, faculty, and staff; respond to general inquiries; and schedule advising appointments for UAAC advisors. Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to three years of general office experience, which included providing ongoing work coordination and/or lead responsibilities with notable accountability for the work results of support staff or unit administrative function. The incumbent must have: effective and developed skills in clerical duties including thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices; the verbal and written ability to present and communicate standard information and reports with a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; the ability to work independently in executing assigned office projects; a demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, and communicate procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions; experience articulating clearly the policies and projects of the office with students, faculty, and support staff across the campus departments and offices; the ability to perform business math, analyze financial and budgetary data, and make accurate projections that require some inference; experience working in higher education; knowledge of faculty and staff personnel policies; the ability to handle interpersonal interactions at all levels when handling highly sensitive situations; the ability to coordinate multiple work assignments and apply office policies to exceed established deadlines; strong organizational and customer service skills; the ability to independently coordinate meetings, events, workshops, and trainings; and experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and a broad range of technology.
