About the Department
The Matador Achievement Center (MAC) serves the 19 Teams and the 400+ NCAA Division I student-athletes of CSUN. With a close working relationship with Intercollegiate Athletics and the University Administration, the MAC provides the academic needs and services from recruiting visits, course selection, eligibility determination, to and through graduation.

Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Tutor Coordinator for Athletic Academic Support provides coordination of the Matador Achievement Center tutoring and peer learning assistant programs. The incumbent contributes to the ongoing enhancement of program policies and procedures; helps with the recruitment and training of current CSUN students as tutors; facilitates on-going weekly meetings and daily and weekly dissemination of student reports; collaborates with campus, conference and NCAA resources to ensure student-athlete academic success; is responsible for assisting student-athletes with their academic success through the incorporation of study strategies and learning techniques; collaborates on individual learning plans for their designated population with athletic academic advisors, coaches and the learning specialists; participates in regular professional development; and performs other duties as assigned.

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a job-related field. Equivalent to two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field. A Master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Experience working as a tutor coordinator with student-athletes or as an educator and with a diverse population to include, administrators, coaches, staff, faculty and student-athletes, preferred. Experience overseeing a population of student workers in addition to program oversight experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of the program to which assigned; working knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management; working knowledge of research and interview techniques; and working knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior. Knowledge and understanding of NCAA, Big West and CSUN rules and regulations. Ability and specialized skills to: interpret and apply program rules and regulations; use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews; reason logically; collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data; advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required; recognize multicultural, multi-sexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts; and ability to rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas Services Office. Demonstrated leadership, time management, interpersonal and communication skills. Highly organized, attentive to details, with proficient technical skills.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
The university offers an excellent benefits package.

The salary range for this classification is: $4304 - $6120 per month.
The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4304 - $4500, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

HOURS: Full-Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Thursday: 10am-7pm and Friday: 8am-5pm. May include some evenings and weekends.

REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
