The Job




The Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District offers a wide array of community recreation activities for the residents of Big Bear, including after-school childcare and activity programs, as well as the Big Bear Alpine Zoo, a swim beach, and youth recreation/sports. Summer offerings include outings to museums, theater, and theme parks.
Our mission is to enhance the community by promoting healthy activities and positive recreational experiences while striving to maintain a standard of excellence through our people, parks and programs.

We have a current need for aBus Driverto drive a 15-passenger van or 23-passenger bus for daily after-school pick-up and transportof students from the local elementary schools to Baldwin Lane Elementary School for Beyond The Bell activities during school sessions (approximately 2 hours per weekday afternoon; up to 10 hours per week). Additionally, during school breaks and summer months, transportation will be needed locally and off-mountainfor District activities (days & hours will vary in the summer).

Minimum Requirements

Driver License: CA Class B Driver License with Passenger Endorsement.

Desired Qualifications

In addition to the required CA Class B Driver License with Passenger Endorsement, the ideal candidate will possess at least3 years experience driving a large passenger van or small bus to transport children to school and extra-curricular activities.

This is anextra-help, non-regular position classified as Public Service Employee and receives no benefits. This is atemporary position, as needed,will be employed for seasonal help, up to12 months, and will vary in assigned weekly hours. (Typical schedule is 2 hours per day (afternoon) during the school year, and as needed for off-site activities during the summer months.)Successful candidates shall be considered at-will throughout the term of their employment, and will not attain regular status. All new employees must adhere to the provisions of the CountyDress Code, which prohibits all visible tattoos.Applicant must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment.
