Exam Number H1120A Type of Recruitment Open Competitive Job Opportunity Definition: Performs special assignment and liaison work for the Department Head as directed. Classification Standards: The one position allocated to this class in a department typically reports to a Department Head of a medium to large-sized County department or a department that provide direct services to the Board of Supervisors. The position is responsible for providing a wide range of staff support services on the more complex departmental management issues and operational needs, including conducting special administrative and research studies affecting departmental operations and acting as liaison and coordinator for the director within the department and between the various commissions, boards, committees and public and private entities. Incumbents must possess a thorough knowledge of departmental operations sufficient to analyze, evaluate, and develop procedures and methods affecting the commitment of departmental resources; effective communicating skills, including written and oral; and the ability to deal effectively with various officials of other agencies, County departments, and Board Offices who work with the department. Essential Job Functions Acts as the Department Head's liaison with departmental executives, the Board Offices, County Commissions, other County departments and public officials and provides oversight of various projects and operational areas, as directed. Develops departmental administrative policies for the Department Head related to the operations of the department and in preparation of instructions for their implementation. Provides consultation in the development of new plans, systems and policies. Analyzes correspondence and reports on departmental activities and makes recommendations on their disposition. Responds in writing or orally to sensitive or controversial inquiries or complaints; prepares official correspondence and materials for the Department Head or designees. Conducts legislative analysis and recommends changes in legislation; serves as legislative liaison with the Chief Executive Office; and, may represent the department on legislative issues in Sacramento. Identifies new programs and services and conducts feasibility studies. Conducts special assignments, management studies, or manages programs and/ or units, as directed. Represents the Department Head or designees at meetings, as directed. Requirements Selection Requirements: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree* from an accredited college -AND- Three years' experience in a responsible staff**, advisory***, or administrative**** capacity analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of problems of organization, procedure, program, budget, or personnel. Additional Information Examination Content: An oral interview weighted 100% which will evaluate candidates' experience, knowledge, oral communication, problem solving and general abilities to perform the duties of the position. Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the interview in order to be placed on the eligible register. Under the indirect supervision of the Charge Nurse, the successful hirewill implement the nursing process, including the nursing diagnosis. In addition, the R.N. will document nursing activities and intervention plans, as well as medication administered. Our Endoscopy Suite, with one procedure room in the Short Stay Unit, is dedicated to providing endoscopic procedures on an outpatient and in-patient basis. The Short Stay Unitprovides support for department volumes that exceed 1,300 procedures annually. Our ideal applicant will possess the following: At least one year of direct, proven endoscopy technical experience. Experience working with procedural/conscious sedation. Previous Critical Care experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certification. Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) experience. NOTE: The current vacancy is extra-help. Extra-help positions offer temporary employment for 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months of full-time work, however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Extra-help assignments are at-will and the employee is paid on an hourly basis. Some extra-help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act.
